The Boerne White Sox Vintage Base Ball Team played at The Farmers Branch Historical Park this past weekend Oct 13 - 14 2007. Twelve players from Boerne traveled to the Dallas area to play against the Farmers Branch Mustangs, the Mongomery College Saw Dogs, the Richmond Giants and the Buffalo Gap Chips. Attending were:  (bottom row left to right) "Stormin" Norman Hurt, Wayne "Knuckles" Speaker, Dave "Lemonade" Kovac, and Rey "Rat" Treviño. (Top/middle row left to right) Hunter "Target" Hurt,  Johnny "Cha Cha" Miller, Mike "Fireball" Haas, Todd "Sparty" Watson, Jay "Beans" Avers, John "Doc" Anderson, and Kristy "Horseshoe" Watson. Also attending was Walt "Stretch" Payton who showed up after this picture was taken. The teams were served Bar-B-Que in the evening and were entertained by a 20 piece banjo band. The Farmers Branch Mustangs were the winners of the tournament.

11 year old Hunter "Target" Hurt, son of "Stormin" Norman Hurt, won the best vintage ballist on Sunday Oct 14th at Farmers Branch Historical Park. Although Hunter is the youngest player on the Boerne White Sox team, he performed very well, hitting many balls into the outfield to bring in runners to score tallies.  He also caught several balls on the second bounce while covering second base to make them dead and was also good at tagging players with his quick speed to make them out. The organizer of the event at Farmers Branch, Barbara Judkins, was so impressed by Hunter's strategic and athletic performance, that she gave him the top ballist award out of the fifty total vintage ball players competing over the weekend. Three cheers to Hunter "Target" Hurt   "Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!"
